Free National Skating Month Event with Hershey Figure Skating Club to Benefit Cocoa Packs

January is National Skating Month! To celebrate the love of skating and to introduce the community to the new Learn-to-Skate USA program, the Hershey Figure Skating Club is holding a free Community Skate on Thursday, January 5th at the historic Hersheypark Arena from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Invite a friend and join us for games, music, refreshments, and door prizes.  At 6:15, a free group Learn-to-Skate will be held for those interested or you can just continue to skate.

Learn-to-Skate USA--designed by USA Hockey, the US Figure Skating Association, & US Speed Skating-- can help you learn to skate, improve existing skills, or get the benefits of exercise.  Classes are offered for adults to tots and everyone in between. This event is open to all community members. Admission is free but skate rental will be available for $2.50.

Attendees are asked to bring food donations for the nonprofit Cocoa Packs program. This program benefits over 600 Derry Township students in need who are “food insecure” by providing food over the weekend or when school is not in session.  Current items needed are at this link but include a range of single-serve food items such as macaroni and cheese cups, snack bars, individual cereal boxes, tuna, and juice boxes.

Parking is free, and located outside the front of the Hersheypark Arena. Enter the Arena at the right side doors.  Leave any food donations for Cocoa Packs at the designated table, then follow the signs around to the staircase downstairs. Please sign in at the information table upon arrival, which will be located near the skate rental at ice level. Remember to bring warm clothing and gloves!

The Hershey Figure Skating Club is proud to offer the new Learn to Skate USA program, sponsored by US Figure Skating, Hockey, and Speedskating!
