1. How many skaters go to the skateoff or final round for Free Style events? For each single free skating event made up of more than one group, an equal number of place finishers not to exceed the top 3, will advance to a final round. Final round will consist of no more than 12 skaters. There is no final round for the Tots and Beginners levels.
2. When will the Hershey Open Schedule be available?
Specific schedules will not be available prior to July 11. Please no phone or email inquiries for the schedule. A copy of the tentative schedule, the practice ice schedule, and parking passes will be posted on the Hershey FSC website at www.hersheyfigureskating.org. Group assignments will be emailed to individual competitors.
3. Will practice ice be available?
Practice Ice will be determined after the final schedule. We will offer practice ice on Tuesday, August 4 in the afternoon and evening. Practice Ice is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Practice Ice schedule will be posted online.
4. Do I need a parking pass?
Parking for the Hershey Open is free. But you must have a Hershey Open parking pass to qualify. All other vehicles parking on the Hersheypark parking lots pay a parking fee of $6-$10.00 per day, subject to increase at any time. Hershey Open parking passes will be available to print online at www.hersheyfigureskating.org.
5. Where do I enter to get to the Hershypark Arena?
You must enter at the Giant Center entrance – go through the toll booths (show them your parking pass or tell them you have a skater for the Hershey Open). Then proceed around the Giant Center complex and follow signs to the Hersheypark Arena. You can park in front of the building. Skating entrance will be marked.
6. Can I get discounted Hersheypark tickets?

7. Where can we stay overnight?
The Hershey Open Committee has reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate for our competitors. Go back to the main Hershey Open page for more info >>
8. How many medals are awarded in each group?
The top 4 placements in each group will receive a medal.
9. If in the final round, if one of the skaters cannot participate, does the next placement skater advance?
This will be at the discretion of the competition referee.
10. Is the Hersheypark Arena Ice Rink cold?

11. Is there a snack bar?
The Hershey Figure Skating Club provides a wonderful snack bar which is managed by our volunteers. It is open during competition hours.
12. Do you prefer tapes or CD’s?
The Hershey Open Music department will accept either CD’s or Minidisks. Please note - no tapes.
13. Which judging system will be used?
The 6.0 judging system will be used for all events at the 2009 Hershey Open.
14. What are the Short Program requirements?
The 2009 USFS rule book will be used for this competition.
15. Can skaters skate up one level?
Skaters may skate up one level.
16. Will male and female skaters be grouped together?
Only in compulsory moves, entertainment, and dance.
17. Is there a admission fee for spectators?
The competition is free and open to the public.
