Our announcement includes a range of events for all skill levels, from Basic Skills to IJS Singles; Showcase and specialty events like jumps.
New this year, we also are having Hockey 1-4 Elements as well as Hockey Skills Challenge. These will both occur on the same day, likely Saturday, August 15. See page 17 of our announcement for information.
IJS JUDGING SYSTEM FOR JUVENILE through SENIOR WELL-BALANCED FREESKATE EVENTS and all EXCEL PLUS and EXCEL JUVENILE through SENIOR FREESKATE EVENTS
Registration has been extended to July 3 at noon and we are definitely at GO, with almost 300 starts.
We reserve the right to limit entries as well as change off-ice protocols and logistics to keep skaters and their coaches/families in adherence with any health protocols in place by the CDC or the Commonwealth of PA at the time of the competition. If we are in "Green" status in PA, we must limit access to the area to 250 people, including our officials and volunteers.
Regardless of status, we anticipate having gaps between events, no group areas such as awards ceremonies or onsite vendors (we will have virtual vendors and our award podiums set up for photos--social distancing in place), results posted online, limited access to downstairs near the ice, a schedule of when skaters may enter the arena, designated areas for each skater to put on skates, etc. Hersheypark management is requiring masks on entering the Arena, but skaters may remove their mask for competing and practice. A full list of what we will be doing will be made available closer to the competition.
Refunds will be available for any events that cannot be held due to ice restrictions (with the exception of the small processing fee, which is not refundable).
Our competition is at the historic Hersheypark Arena, right next to Hersheypark and Chocolate World. Many families make competing at the Hershey Open a family getaway.
Hersheypark will be open as of July 3 ( July 1 for season pass holders). Their newest roller coaster, Candymonium, also opens this day. It's the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in Hersheypark!
Please be aware: To implement recommended state and federal safety guidelines, all guests, including Season Pass Holders, must reserve a date for their Hersheypark® visit in advance. (This is a separate process from buying tickets; tickets must be purchased first, then you will input the barcode/ticket # into this reservation link). https://www.hersheypark.com/reservations/reserve-your-day/
Required safety protocols are listed here, and include a requirement to wear a mask for anyone over age 2. https://www.hersheypark.com/safety.php

We have not designated an official hotel, in Hershey, but the greater Hershey Area is full of quality hotels and motels, at every budget point.
Within Hershey, there are a variety of hotels, from the clean but budget-friendly Super 8, to the Hershey Hotel and many options in between, such as the Hershey Lodge, Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, and Fairfield Inn.
There is a brand new hotel, Tru by Hilton, that opened up in downtown Hershey last year. https://tru3.hilton.com/en/hotels/pennsylvania/tru-by-hilton-hershey-chocolate-avenue-MDTHCRU/index.html
Outside of Hershey, there are a range of options, including staying a short 7.5 mile ride up Route 743 in Grantville. Conversely, west of Hershey, there are range of budget-friendly hotels, including the Red Lion Harrisburg-Hershey, about 11 miles west on Route 322 on Lindle Road.
The Hershey Story Museum, with a great "apprentice" program to make the museum interactive for kids, and a chocolate lab where you can make your own chocolate creation! https://hersheystory.org/
Masks are required and timed tickets are recommended to ensure your visit time is available as they limit entries. See here: https://hersheystory.org/hours-information/admission/
